3rd Annual Service in Action Photo Competition

 Colorado Campus Compact is thrilled to announce the 2013 Service in Action photo competition!  This competition is open to all civically-engaged students from our member and partner institutions, including AmeriCorps members actively enrolled in Compact Service Corps.  Winners receive a scholarship!

First Prize: $500

Second Prize: $300

Third Prize: $200

Timeline:

January 21 -  April 5           Photo submissions via Facebook

April 8 - 12                            Jury Selections

April 15 - 26                         Public Voting via Facebook

April 30                                  Winners Announced

Service in Action Photo Competition creates a public venue for college students throughout the region to creatively express their commitment to civic engagement and be recognized for their service efforts.  The competition opens on Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service and the winners will be announced on April 30th, Global Youth Service Day.

 How:

Students may submit photos online via Colorado Campus Compact’s Facebook page (facebook.com/cccompact) any time between January 21 and April 5.  Contestants must submit a Photo Submission Form, as well as completing release forms for any vulnerable populations pictured in photos, which can be accessed on our Facebook page.  

Theme descriptions:

Choose one theme that best fits your photo entry

  • Bridging Economic & Social Divides – Inspired by MLK Day, these photos could include MLK Day projects, or projects that address capacity building, economic development, immigrant rights/advocacy, or any service that focuses on bridging economic and social divides.
  • Youth Changing the World – Inspired by Global Youth Service Day, these photos could include international service, youth programs outside of academics, or Public Achievement.
  • Creating Healthy Futures – Based on an AmeriCorps focus area, these photos could include service provided through healthcare programs or environmental programs.
  • Educating the Next Generation – Based on an AmeriCorps focus area, these photos could include tutoring, mentoring, teacher education, or any service that addresses academic engagement.
